We have written the following articles to edify and build up the body of Christ.
If you enjoy them please feel free to pass on to one another.
The Helmet of Salvation
Our
knowledge of God must come from our learning His “Word” and our
fellowshipping with people of “like-minded” faith.
As we learn to walk out our salvation with “fear and trembling”, the
awesomeness of God, we can grow into spiritually strong men and women. We must protect our heads with the “Helmet of Salvation”
as is found in Ephesians the sixth chapter.
The word
salvation means: to be whole, spirit, soul, and body, well, healthy, prosperous,
at peace, having joy, etc., all the things pertaining to living a godly life.
When growing in the Word many times our salvation will be tried by the
one who does not want us to be like Jesus.
This enemy is not a physically person as some of us would like to think,
but an enemy of our souls. As we
learn more about the real thing, JESUS, the counterfeit is recognized.
1Cr 6:19
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which
is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
2Cr 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
1Jo 2:16
For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of
the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
What we
look at is what we become. Three
times more violence on Saturday morning cartoons that the evening TV schedule.
The TV shows have more sex, violence, and bad language.
They are now showing alcohol in commercials again.
The movies are graded by sex, violence and language yet we reason away
but just one scene or a few bad words is all.
Once you get past that is was a Good movie or show.
One of
the highest rated TV shows is the Osborne’s.
Other than their language, fans say, they are just like out families.
What are we watching and why?
Gen 3:6
And when
the woman saw
that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a
tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did
eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Jdg 14:1
And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw
a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.
2Sa 11:2
And it
came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked
upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw
a woman washing herself; and the woman [was] very beautiful to
look upon.
What are we telling our families
and ourselves? We can watch a
little wrong because so much of it is ok? We
speak a little bad language because we don’t do it all the time?
We excuse away our “one beer” is ok.
It’s moderation.
The difference between a Christian
who is trying to stop the stuff from entering their bodies is not the person who
stays in the situation.
A pig and a lamb fall into a mud
hole. Now they both have mud on
them and look like they are enjoying it. We
know the pig just wallows there. But
you know what the lamb is doing? They
are crying out to get out of it. BAA
BAA Help Help!
One more story:
A father’s teenage children
wanted to go see a movie that their friends had seen. Even people from the church had said, “other than the one
time they took the Lord’s name in vain and they only inferred the sex the
movie was Good”. But the father
refused to compromise his position on the movie.
Later that evening he baked a
surprise dessert for the teens. He
told them it was their favorite “brownies”.
Now as the looked at the plate set in front of them the father explained
there was a special ingredient he put in to it. The thought what was it that made it different?
He began to explain that he had put just one quarter of a tablespoon of
cow manure it to the mix. But it was just such a small amount it would hurt them.
You know he couldn’t get those teenagers to taste it.
I wonder why?
Well we have choices to make every
day about whom we are with, where we go, what we speak, what we watch and how it
will effect out lives. Are we going
to accept just a little sinful behavior around us or are we going to cry
BAA BAA to our father to get us out of the mud holes we find our selves
in. We must help those who are in
the mud holes and we must sometimes feel like dirt to do it but we must not
wallow there. We must be clean
before God.
Lets consider what is set before
us. And then not wonder why things
are not changing in out own lives.
Now don’t be a pitchfork Christian and pitch this at someone else. Remove the beams from our own lives then we can remove the speck from others.
